Before being overpowered by police, the gunman had injured five others, including a police officer. They are not in immediate mortal danger.
Speaking at a press conference, Commissioner Ryan Lee said police received a report around 1:15 p.m. local time on Monday of a shooting at the Towne Square shopping center in Boise, the city’s largest shopping center. At the scene, officers saw a man who matched the description of the shooter. A firefight ensued in which one of the officers was injured. The suspect was also injured and was subsequently overpowered. He has since died from his injuries sustained in the shooting.
Police searched the entire mall after the shooting, but Lee said the gunman likely acted alone. His motive is still unclear.
