A shocking video showed the moment a truck with a child inside was stolen while the family was on the sidewalk in Boston a few days ago.
Boston police also released a picture of the person they said stole the truck with a child still inside, and after finding out, stopped and put the infant on the side of the road.
Police said the video showed a person riding a bike before abandoning it to steal the truck, while its owner and wife were attending to a minor problem with their two-year-old son.
The family told police they had to stop to take care of their two-year-old.
Officers who received a call about a reported kidnapping learned that a large Hispanic man with long hair and a beard last seen in a gray shirt and gray pants had just escaped in a van with a baby in it.
Jose Cruz, who lives near the area, said that “burglaries and car thefts have become a big problem in the neighborhood.”
Other neighbors said: “Although this child was reunited with his family, the outcome could have been much worse.”
