Shocking Theft in Chartres Warehouse: Man Sentenced for Stealing €20,000 Worth of Dior Perfume

The theft took place in a warehouse. The man, aged 26, was sentenced in the spring, during a judgment in appearance on prior admission of guilt (CRPC) at the Chartres judicial court. The affair has only just been revealed.

Two days before the hearing, around 8 p.m., a security agent from the Dior company in Chartres carried out an unannounced check on several employees leaving the company. The employee then spontaneously puts back six one-liter bottles placed in his backpack.

Perfume in aperitif bottles

These containers, which look like insulated bottles, in fact contain perfume with a resale value of €20,000. The police arrested the suspect and placed him in police custody for 48 hours.

They immediately carried out a search of his vehicle and his partner’s home in Chartres. No trace of other similar bottles.

The investigations are then carried out by the departmental security police officers who go to a place called Le Péage, in Serazereux, in order to search his parents’ home.

The police discovered Dior perfume, in particular bottles of the brand’s Gris model, in every room of the house. A large quantity was empty.

But, by carefully inspecting all the bottles in the kitchen and living room, the police made surprising discoveries. “Aperitif bottles contained perfume,” said an investigator. Others were hidden in laundry baskets. More than three liters of Dior perfume essence were once again seized with a market value of €15,000.

After the house, the departmental security police searched the garage and a shed, without success. Before leaving the premises, they went to examine a composter at the bottom of the garden.

A hidden safe

While lightly rummaging through the trash, they saw a piece of plastic from a trash bag. When they rub it, they see a large mass inside. The plastic bag contained a safe to which the suspect gave the code. Inside, €86,230 in tickets.

During the hearing, the employee, on a fixed-term contract, declared that he had stolen perfume for a year. And which he resold to a wholesaler. The employee had already been sentenced in 2022 for identical facts in another perfume company in Yvelines. He was then placed on an electronic bracelet.

He was therefore a legal repeat offender. His criminal record also includes convictions for acts of violence and theft.
