President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) received the Indonesian Education Providers Alliance (APPI) at the Merdeka Palace, Jakarta. After the meeting, the Education Providers Alliance delivered shocking news regarding the changes to the National Education System Law (National Education System Bill).
“We provide input and suggestions on how Indonesia’s education in the future can be carried out together through a mutual cooperation mechanism,” said the Steering Committee of the Indonesian Education Providers Alliance, Doni Koesoema Albertus, as in a written statement from the Press, Media and Information Bureau of the Presidential Secretariat. , Monday (30/5/2022).
This alliance supports Jokowi’s vision and mission so that Indonesia’s human resources (HR) are superior and have character. To achieve this, the alliance believes that good cooperation and collaboration is needed between ministries and education providers in the field from Sabang to Merauke, both in cities and remote areas.
“We want the state to be present and we have been presenting the state through the world of education. Therefore, we are here to emphasize our support that we want President Joko Widodo’s visions and missions to really be realized, formed, throughout the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia through our works, duties, and services,” said Doni.
The Alliance of Indonesian Education Providers who were present consisted of the Educational Council for Education at the Educational Elementary School of Muhammadiyah, the Association of Teachers of the Republic of Indonesia, the Supervisory Board for the Council of Christian Education in Indonesia, the National Assembly for Catholic Education, and the Association of Schools and Madrasas throughout the Archipelago (Hisminu).

APPI: Jokowi Doesn’t Know the Process of the National Education System Bill
The topic of the National Education System Bill was said to be one of the issues discussed by APPI during its audience with Jokowi. APPI claims that President Jokowi stated that he did not know that there was a process for the National Education System Bill.
“We discussed important and urgent issues related to the future of national education, especially regarding the National Education System Bill,” said Doni Koesoema A in a written statement, Monday (30/5).
“What is very surprising for us, in today’s meeting the President stated that he was not aware of the process of changing the National Education System Law,” said Doni.
