Shocking Food Court Prices in Johor Bahru, Malaysia: Netizen Pays IDR 4 Million!

Jakarta

The prices of food offered by food courts are usually relatively cheaper than restaurants. This netizen felt like he was being priced out because he had to pay IDR 4 million.

Eating at the food court is an alternative if you want to eat cheaply while in malls, shopping centers and other areas. Prices usually start from just IDR 30,000.

However, this is different from what a netizen experienced when enjoying food at the food court. Instead of paying a low price, this netizen was actually hit by a price shock of up to millions of rupiah, as reported by Says (3/10).

This was expressed by Ekin Cahaya, a customer who had just enjoyed a meal at a food court in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Ekin is known to eat at one of the shops.

Ekin enjoyed the food on September 30. He showed that the food was enjoyed by himself and his family. A total of 12 items were ordered by Ekin.

The prices of dishes ordered by Ekin vary greatly. Prices start from RM 30 to RM 224 (Rp. 99 thousand – Rp. 740 thousand) per portion.

If you look at the background at the back of the food receipt photo, Ekin and his family ate at a seafood shop. The shop also explained that the price would be calculated according to market price.

“We had a seafood dinner, but what didn’t make sense was the total bill was RM 1,260 (Rp. 4.1 million) and I didn’t know what they wrote,” said Ekin in the video.

Ekin’s upload on Facebook immediately caught the attention of netizens. Many other netizens agree that the price is unreasonable.

“It’s annoying to see the price of the bill. It’s a shame if those who can’t afford it get charged that much. Use the name food court, but the price is like a 10 star hotel,” commented netizens in a Facebook post.

Some netizens also mentioned that expensive prices are often raised to gain profits from tourists. “If you come from outside the city of Johor Bahru, make sure to survey the restaurant and ask first,” commented another.
