Shocking Discovery: Woman in China Found to Have Testicles in Stomach After 27 Years of Living as a Woman

Jakarta

After 27 years of living as a woman, a shocking study of a woman in China revealed that she had testicles in her stomach, meaning, biologically, she is a man.

SCMP reported that Li Yuan, from central China’s Hubei province, whose name has been changed to protect her identity, was concerned about the absence of menstruation and delayed breast development since her pregnancy. – youth.

She went to a local hospital when she was 18 and was diagnosed with abnormal hormone levels and possible ovarian failure. Doctors also recommended further chromosome testing at that time, but Li and his family did not take the recommendation seriously.

Recently, when Li was planning her wedding, she decided to do a thorough investigation.

This time, Duan Jie, a gynecologist, discovered a rare disorder, congenital adrenal hyperplasia (CAH). After anxiously waiting for the test results for a month, the doctor’s decision was confirmed.

Li has male sex chromosomes, but looks female.

“Socially, Li is a woman. But chromosomally, she is a man,” explained Duan.

Congenal adrenal hyperplasia affects the normal growth and development of a child. Symptoms in infants may include ambiguous genitalia in girls and an enlarged penis in boys.

The news surprised Li. Living as a woman for 27 years, she struggled to accept the truth. Only about 1 in 50,000 newborns suffer from this type of CAH.

Both of Li’s parents carry the recessive gene that causes the disease, so Li has a one in four chance of passing on the disorder. Due to lack of early treatment, Li also suffered from osteoporosis and vitamin D deficiency, according to test results.

The doctor immediately recommended surgery to remove the testicles hidden in Li’s stomach because of the high risk of cancer. In early April, Li successfully underwent a risky surgery and his organs were removed.
