Shocking discovery in pumpkins

For customs officials at one of the border crossings between Mexico and the United States, more specifically Eagle Pass at the Camino Real International Bridge, Halloween arrived earlier this year.

On Tuesday of last week, they stopped a Ford Escape en route from Mexico, where two people had a clever trick planned well ahead of this year’s Halloween celebrations.

– Put most of it

Customs officials decided to take the vehicle for further investigation and in the trunk they found four pumpkins, filled with a total of 20 kilograms of liquid methamphetamine.

– Our border guards saw most things, and this Tuesday was no exception when they came across liquid methamphetamines inside the pumpkins, says interim border crossing director Elizabeth Garduno in a Press release.

Methamphetamine is a central stimulant derived from amphetamine and is often used as an intoxicant.

Packaged in condoms

The difference between methamphetamine and amphetamine is that the former reaches the brain faster and is assumed to have a stronger effect, according to Great Norwegian Lexicon (SNL). Methamphetamine is, like in Norway, illegal in the United States.

The drugs were wrapped in condoms and, according to US customs authorities, the value is estimated at $ 402,196. This corresponds to just over four million Norwegian kroner.

– Customs officials made good use of their training, experience and interview skills and discovered a fairly new method of drug smuggling in the process, Garduno says.

The methamphetamine and vehicle were seized by customs and both the driver and passenger were taken into police custody in Maverick County, Texas for further investigation.
