A man in his 40s has been charged with breaking into a home and committing qualified sexual acts with children under the age of 14.
According to the indictment, the incident must have taken place at night in Oslo earlier this year.
The defendant is said to have laid down in the bed of the victim, a boy of primary school age, with no clothes on his lower body – while he was sleeping. He is said to have then put his hand down the victim’s trousers and groped him underneath, the indictment states.
The case is scheduled to appear in the Oslo district court next week. The man has not yet wanted to explain himself to the police.
– I have no comment on the case, says the man’s defender, lawyer Ola Lunde, to Dagbladet.
Neither police prosecutor Ingrid Bjørnestad Skogsholm nor assistant prosecutor Halldis Winje want to comment on the case at this time.
The maximum penalty for qualified sexual acts with children under the age of 14 is ten years’ imprisonment. The man is also charged with illegal possession of drugs and aggravated theft, as he is said to have also stolen clothes from the apartment in question.
The defendant has been convicted a number of times in the past, including for drug offences, aggravated theft, burglary, as well as violence and threats against a public servant.
