After a shock call in the Main-Kinzig district, the police arrested the alleged pick-up. The perpetrators had demanded 30,000 euros.

Hanau – As the police headquarters in Southeast Hesse in Offenbach announced, an 80-year-old man in the Main-Kinzig district received a phone call on Tuesday (28 March), in what is now familiar “shock” fashion, to tell him that his daughter had been involved in a fatal traffic accident.

Now the payment of bail for the release of the daughter is necessary. “By the scammers skillfully kept their victim on the phone and gave instructions to get the money from the bank and hand it over to a collector, a handover of the money was imminent,” a police spokesman said.

“If it weren’t for the attentive bank employee who immediately informed the police about the overall circumstances. The bank employee acted with quick wit and immediately informed the police. The requested cash amounting to more than 30,000 euros was therefore not withdrawn.”

Under instructions from the police, the 80-year-old went to the agreed meeting point on Tuesday afternoon – a parking lot at Steinheimer Tor in downtown Hanau. Alleged judges and prosecutors kept calling him. Finally, at around 5:20 p.m., a man appeared in the parking lot to take the money.

The police arrested the collector for the time being. A “shock call” is intended to fool the victim into something in order to get hold of his assets. Not so with Klaus Mouchlias. The rescuer with the bike recently stopped a shock call scammer in the Main-Kinzig district.
