Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia – Microsoft founder Bill Gates said something surprising in an interview WIRED. As quoted from Business Insider, he said the Covid-19 tests especially in the US were “rubbish”.
He said this was due to the length of the test results. In fact, test results came out for longer than a week and frustrated data-dependent public health authorities on time.
“Now that’s just stupidity. The majority of all US tests are completely rubbish, pointless,” Gates said when asked about the delay in testing results quoted Monday (08/10/2020).
One of the richest people in the world said he thought there was a simple solution to this. One is that medical providers should only accept payment for tests if they provide results within 48 hours.
“If you don’t care how late the date is and you reimburse at the same rate, of course they will take every customer. Because they make ridiculous money,” Gates said.
“You have to have the reimbursement system pay a little extra for 24 hours, pay normal charges for 48 hours, and pay nothing (if it hasn’t been done by then). And they’ll solve it overnight.”
For years, Gates has warned that the US is not prepared for a massive pandemic. Since the start of Covid-19, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has funded a large amount of vaccine testing and research.
Gates himself is also suspected of being the target of conspiracy theories stemming from advocates because of the strong response to the virus. Including the theory that Gates plans to microchip people under the pretext of administering a vaccine.
In an interview with WIRED, Gates admitted that conspiracy theories spread like wildfire on social media. Therefore, he advised Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg to combat misinformation such as on Facebook.
