Jakarta, CNBC Indonesia– Coordinating Minister for Marves, Luhut Binsar Panjaitan, confirmed that the smelter construction of a number of strategic industrial areas included in the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) has been running and will be completed soon.
“Update on the RPJMN Strategic Industrial Area and smelters. This is all already in progress. Many intellectuals do not see this figure. Thinking new but actually everything is already working,” said Luhut in the CNBC Indonesia Mining Forum with the theme “Prospects for the Minerba Industry 2021”, Wednesday ( 24/3/2021).
In his presentation, it was revealed that the smelter is located in Galang Batang SEZ with Alumina products with an investment value of US $ 1.9 billion. This smelter will be COD in 2021. Next is the North Morowali Industrial Area with ferro nickel products. This smelter spent an investment of US $ 1.9 billion and will be COD in the fourth quarter of 2021.
Next is Tanah Kuning Industrial Park with Alumina and Steel products. The investment value reaches US $ 1.5 billion and will be COD in 2022 and 20215. Apart from the three smelters, there are 6 more smelters that will operate soon in less than 4 years.
“For green energy, we have raw materials, we have the Ciptaker Law which facilitates investment so that downstream minerals can run well,” said Luhut.
“The next downstream targets are copper and bauxite, and we will push for an integrated downstream strategy with Industrial Estates,” said Luhut.
