Food prices in our country continue to rise. And the pressure on consumers’ pockets affects both vulnerable groups and active workers. A rise in prices is especially felt in dairy products. 1 kg of cow’s cheese costs 31 BGN. The price of cheese also continues to rise, to nearly BGN 29, writes Bulgaria ON AIR.
And after becoming cheaper in mid-July, oil is now trading at nearly BGN 5 per liter, but the forecast is that soon after the new year it will hit 6.50 per liter. Rice trades at BGN 2.66 per kilogram.
For the second week, the eggs are sold at BGN 0.50 per piece.
So far there are no measures to deal with inflation in our country. The only mechanisms adopted by the government are the reduction of the value added tax on bread and flour.
Unlike Bulgaria – our southern neighbor Greece, which is among the record holders in terms of inflation – nearly 36% are discussing the introduction of a ceiling on the prices of basic food products. The measure is expected to take effect by the end of October and will be active for the duration of the crisis.
