Team Kazakhstan Football is going through difficult times at the moment. Team Cherchesova he suffered three defeats in a row and they did not score a single goal. Against a background of unsuccessful performances, the Russian specialist did not leave the field. A couple of times Stanislav Salamovich spoke very wrongly about the Kazakh language at a press conference, which annoyed local journalists and fans.
Given the accumulated negativity, many expected major personnel changes in the upper echelons of Kazakh football. And so they happened. The man who brought Cherchesov to the Central Asian team has resigned. Who’s next?
Left to his own devices
The Kazakhstan Football Federation (KFF) announced that Adlet Barmenkulov, who has been in charge of the organization since February 2022, has decided to leave his position of his own free will. In its statement, the news service noted the great progress in the development of sports in recent years.
– A very valuable achievement for the whole country was the historic victory of the Kazakhstan national team in Division “C” of the UEFA Nations League in 2022. In 2023, our team inspired millions of Kazakhstanis by winning 18 maximum points in the Euro 2024 qualifying competition, to be one step away from the final stage. These moments have become an integral part of our football history and every achievement is the result of his visionary leadership and commitment to the business.

Should Cherchesov prepare to leave?
It is not difficult to believe that it was Barmenkulov who launched Cherchesov’s invitation to the position of head coach of the Kazakhstan national team last summer. Even then, this caused a mixed reaction among local fans, and over time the number of skeptics only increased.
Under Stanislav Salamovich, the Kazakhs played four official matches (all in the League of Nations) and scored only one point. After drawing with Norway, losing twice to Slovenia and losing to Austria, Cherchesov’s team was in last place in the group. It is very sad that Kazakhstan never managed to hit the opponent’s goal, setting the longest goalless streak since 2021.

At the same time, in October, Barmenkulov removed Cherchesov openly from attacking the public. The official said that selection for the 2026 World Cup is a priority for the coaching staff, and the autumn games can be given.
The Kazakhstan national team will play their final matches in the Nations League next week. If Cherchesov’s team ends the tournament without wins, who knows if the Russian specialist will now have defenders.
