(Tsitsipas-Tiafoe 4-6, 4-6, 3-6) Wimbledon is over just before it started for Stefanos Tsitsipas (22). The Greek had no chance against Frances Tiafoe (23).

World number four Stefano Tsitsipas went for a big bang in the first round of Wimbledon. He lost in straight sets against Frances Tiafoe and can already pack the tennis bag and travel home from London.
– I live for these moments, Tiafoe grins.
The Greek recently played the final of the French Open, where only world number one Novak Djokovic proved too strong.
In the first round of Wimbledon, Tiafoe won the sets 4-6, 4-6, 3-6 in a match that lasted a little over two hours.
GREEK DISAPPOINTMENT: Stefanos Tsitsipas wipes his sweat after defeat in straight sets against Frances Tiafoe.

– I think you suddenly saw his weaknesses, especially the backhand returns, says Eurosport expert and three-time Grand Slam winner Mats Wilander.
The Swede praises Tiafoe, but believes that Tsitsipas did not look “mentally clear” and that the preparations had not been optimal. The match comes just two weeks after the final of the French Open.
Tiafoe is ranked as the world’s 57th best player. He will face either Canadian Vasek Pospisil or Spaniard Roberto Carballés in the next round.
This is the fourth time Tiafoe has beaten a top 10 player, but the American has never outperformed a player with a higher ranking than Tsitsipas.
Djokovic is the reigning champion at Wimbledon, but still had to fight well in his first round match against Jack Draper (19), ranked number 253 in the world. The British won the first set, but eventually had to realize that the Serb was too strong.
There were also surprises on the women’s side. Czech Petra Kvitová (31) was previously mentioned as one of the favorites to win Wimbledon.
She struggled hard against Sloane Stephens (28) – ranked 73rd in the world – and lost in straight sets with the numbers 3-6, 4-6.
