Shock: BGN 7.50 for a bottle of oil

The oil went up headlong.

The minimum price of BGN 7.20 – 7.50 will be the price of a bottle of oil on the shelf in the store, even if the retail chain puts a minimum mark-up.

This calculation was made by the commercial director of the factory in the village of Karapelit Georgi Veselinov. It is not up to us, it is provoked by the military conflict, he explained to BTV.

80% of the world’s sunflower reserves and the corresponding production of sunflower oil are concentrated in Russia and Ukraine, the expert said. This concentrated demand from world markets to us, otherwise Bulgarian consumption is small – the factory itself can cover the needs of our customers. However, it works mainly for export.

The other factor besides the huge foreign demand due to the war is the jump in energy. Only a few months ago, a liter of oil at the wholesale price left the factory at BGN 3, now it is BGN 6 without VAT due to the quadruple jump in the price of electricity, 10 times that of gas and new oil prices, Veselinov explained.
