Ravindra Jadeja had a brilliant performance taking the wickets of Thempa Bavuma, Henrich Klassen, David Miller, Keshav Maharaj and Kagiso Rabada. Jaddu achieved the feat by conceding 33 runs in nine overs. Mohammad Shami took the crucial wickets of Razi van der Dusen and Aiden Markram, while Kuldeep Yadav shone with two wickets. Mohammad Siraj took the wicket of Quinton de Kock early in the game. Although Jasprit Bumrah did not take any wicket, he bowled at an economy of 2.80 in 5 overs and put pressure on the South African team.
Akhtar also expressed his disappointment with South Africa who struggled against the Indian bowling line-up.
‘South Africa was stuck in front of India. Even skipper Thempa Bavuma did not attack the Indian pacers. He should have done something serious,’ he said.
Virat Kohli’s century and Shreyas Iyer’s half-century raised India’s score in the match. Kohli scored his 49th ODI century on 101 runs off 121 balls. With this, Virat is tied with cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar’s world record. Shreyas scored 77 (87) runs and Rohit Sharma scored 40 (24) runs.
