Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi has responded to comments made by Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha regarding protesting wrestlers against Wrestling Federation of India chief Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh. Chaturvedi believes that collectively, we need to speak up for our sportswomen instead of accusing them of tarnishing India’s image. This comes after Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik, three top wrestlers, have taken part in protests against Singh. The WFI president has been accused of sexual harassment and intimidation by the wrestlers, with the IOA yet to complete its investigation. Meanwhile, Indian cricketers and other top sportspersons have remained silent on the issue, which has been disappointing for many.
