Uddhav Thackeray, leader of the Shiv Sena (UBT) and former chief minister of Maharashtra, criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at a rally in Maharashtra’s Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar. During his speech, Thackeray questioned Modi’s educational qualification and claimed that riots in the district during Ram Navami festivities were an attempt to polarise the society for upcoming elections. He also criticised the BJP-Shiv Sena coalition for allegedly misusing the name of Hindutva ideologue VD Savarkar for their political rally. The MVA rally, titled ‘Vajramuth’ (Iron Fist), was organised to show the strength of unity between the Shiv Sena (UBT), Nationalist Congress Party and Congress.
