Shirin van Anrooij: “Fortunately no muscles and tendons badly damaged” | Cyclocross

Shortly after the start in Tabor, a pack of riders crashed, Van Anrooij unfortunately got a disc brake in her front. Fellow riders had to look away and team manager Sven Nys was also moved: “I have never seen such a wound.”

The Telenet-Baloise Lions rider was taken to a hospital in Ceske Budejovice, where she received immediate surgery. This morning she gave an update.

“I had surgery last night to repair the deep wound in my arm. Fortunately, no muscles and tendons were badly damaged. The only thing I broke is my ring finger.”

“I will have to stay in this hospital for a few days, but I hope to be home soon. Thank you for all the sweet messages.”

“I don’t know how much time it will take me to recover from this crash, but I will be back.”
