Officials said that the steps to restore the ship traffic in the canal are progressing rapidly. About 10 percent of the world’s cargo passes through the Suez Canal.

The two ships involved in the accident were part of a fleet sailing from the Mediterranean Sea to the Red Sea. The Singapore ship B.W. was traveling through the canal. The Lesmes oil tanker ran aground on Tuesday night due to mechanical failure. The ship was carrying natural gas. The following Cayman Island ship, the Buri, rammed the stranded ship. It contained oil products.
