Ship breaks in two off Hong Kong coast, 27 missing

A ship has broken in two off the coast of Hong Kong, 27 people are missing.

The ship ran into problems when it hit a tropical storm, the Chinese authorities report. According to the South China Morning Post the ship is called the ‘Fujing001’.

Thirty people were on board, three of whom were rescued by the Coast Guard. Looks like the others have been knocked overboard. The rescue operation is hampered by waves of 10 meters high and wind speeds of 144 kilometers per hour.

Rescuers search for any survivors using airplanes, a helicopter and a boat.
