Today, Pro Wrestling ZERO1 organized a show with a fight between Takashi Sugiura and Shinjiro Otani for the title of world heavyweight champion of the federation.
During the fight, Takashi Sugiura landed a German Suplex on Shinjiro Otani directly against the corner of the ring. Right after this take, Shinjiro Otani stays on the ground for several seconds and can’t get up at all. The referee and the people around the ring take a few seconds to realize that the Japanese legend is completely pinned down.
Tokyo Sports then informs us that Shinjiro Otani has been hospitalized and the referee of the match, Katsumi Sasazaki, reveals that the wrestler told him that he could no longer feel his hands, but that he was conscious.
“He was conscious. He could hear his own voice and he could clearly see where he was. However, he complained that he couldn’t move his hands and couldn’t move, and he said, “I can’t feel my hands.”
Hochi News got some information from ringside physician Dr. Hayashi who said there were serious concerns about a cervical spine injury.
All our thoughts go out to Shinjiro Otani and his loved ones hoping to have good news in the next few hours.
