Shinhan Bank is accelerating its ‘customer expansion’ management to attract new young customers and understand the needs of existing customers in more detail. We launched a youth savings product with an interest rate of up to 6.5% per annum, and recently established a survey platform to gain an in-depth understanding of customer experiences.
On the 21st, Shinhan Bank announced that it had launched a ‘special interest rate package for youth’. The ‘Special Interest Rate Package for Youth’ consists of the ‘My Plus Term Deposit’ interest rate preferential coupon, ‘Youth First Savings’, and ‘2024 Youth Savings Challenge’ events.
In particular, ‘Youth First Savings’ is a product created by Shinhan Bank to help young people build assets as part of the ‘People’s Livelihood Financial Support Plan’. Young customers between the ages of 18 and 39 can sign up, and the maximum interest rate of 6.5% per year is applied by adding the maximum preferential interest rate of 3.0% points per year to the basic interest rate of 3.5% per year. The maturity period is 1 year, and you can deposit up to 300,000 won per month.
Specifically, the preferential interest rate is △Receipt of salary transfer or Salary Club salary envelope for more than 6 months (1.0% points per year) △Shinhan Card (credit/check) payment history in your name for more than 6 months (0.5% points per year) △Shinhan Super SOL app membership Subscription (0.5% points per year) △ Applicable if you have not held a Shinhan Bank term deposit/savings or housing subscription for the previous year, or if you have canceled or expired Shinhan Youth Hope Savings or the maturity date has passed (1.0% points per year).
In addition, Shinhan Bank is also working to improve its services by understanding the satisfaction of existing customers in more detail. Shinhan Bank recently established a ‘dynamic experience research platform’. This is a survey platform that allows you to freely create and change survey content and structure to deeply analyze customers’ experiences with Shinhan Bank.
In the existing survey method, it is difficult to modify the content and the survey process takes 1 to 2 months, but the dynamic platform allows the survey content to be freely reconstructed and real-time surveys are also possible. In particular, it has the advantage of being able to fine-tune the survey questions according to the customer’s age, occupation, etc. by utilizing the database owned by Shinhan Bank.
For example, when a customer applied for foreign currency exchange using the Shinhan app and received it at a branch, the existing survey method was limited to simply asking about ‘job satisfaction.’ However, on the dynamic platform, detailed surveys can be conducted at all stages of customer contact with Shinhan Bank, including satisfaction with foreign currency exchange services using mobile apps and satisfaction at the stage of receiving foreign currency.
A Shinhan Bank official explained, “We developed the dynamic platform out of the need to establish and improve customer-centered strategies by expanding the service quality diagnosis area.” Previously, Shinhan Bank President Jeong Sang-hyuk emphasized in his New Year’s address this year, “Change to a ‘customer immersion organization’ that looks at customers more closely and in detail.”
