Jeon Ji-Hee: It’s great to be back! After taking some time away from the national team and reflecting on my sponsorship with mirae Asset Securities, I realized that my passion for table tennis still burns brightly. I missed the thrill of competition and the challenge of pushing myself against the best in the world.The Singapore Smash presents an unbelievable opportunity to test my skills once again, and I’m eager to see where I stand.
Interviewer: Your recent triumph at the WTT contender Doha 2024, overcoming your longtime rival Shin Yu-Bin in a nail-biting seven-set match, must have given you a big confidence boost. How did that victory impact your decision to compete in Singapore?
Jeon Ji-Hee: That victory was truly special. It proved to me that I can still compete at the highest level and that my hard work is paying off.Winning against Yu-Bin, who is such a talented and formidable player, was a huge confidence booster. It solidified my belief that I’m still capable of achieving great things.
Interviewer: Speaking of Shin Yu-Bin, she’s already confirmed her participation in the women’s singles competition in Singapore. Could another epic clash be on the cards? What are your thoughts?
Jeon Ji-Hee: It would certainly be thrilling to face Yu-Bin again! Our matches are always fiercely contested and provide a spectacle for fans. We push each other to our limits, and that’s what makes our rivalry so captivating. Of course, my focus is on myself and preparing to the best of my ability.
