Shin Tae-yong’s spicy comments shocked Thailand’s coach ahead of facing the Indonesian national team in the 2020 AFF Cup Final : Okezone Bola

COMMENT spicy Shin Tae-yong shocked the Thai coach. The thing Tae-yong was talking about was related to ball possession Thailand which he deems unfavorable.

Of course, Tae-yong’s scathing words immediately shocked Thailand’s coach, Alexandre Polking. Because he did not expect the slanted words to come out of the South Korean coach.

What makes Polking even more distrustful is that he feels that Thailand’s possession is fine and not as Tae-yong said. Polking considered the Thai midfielders to be very good and able to control the ball very well.

“That’s quite surprising. In my opinion, there is no problem with possession of the ball (Thai National Team). We have a lot of good midfielders,” Polking said during a press conference ahead of the first leg of the 2020 AFF Cup final, Tuesday (12/28/2021).

Polking also felt that maybe Tae-yong saw Thailand’s bad game against Vietnam in the 2020 AFF Cup semifinals. For this match, Polking admitted that Thailand did look different and didn’t really care about ball possession because the opponent he was facing was Vietnam.

“I understand maybe against Vietnam we did look different. Because we do take a different approach,” he continued.

Polking’s words are true, because Thailand has always been able to collect at least 50 percent of ball possession throughout the 2020 AFF Cup. However, Polking himself doesn’t mind this because for him the important thing is to win.

“We just want to win and don’t really care about possession. We are not a team that cares about possession. So, I don’t feel there is anything wrong in terms of our possession,” continued Polking.

The first leg of the AFF Cup 2020 final will take place on Wednesday 29 December 2021 at 19.30 WIB, while the second leg between Thailand vs Indonesia will be held on Saturday 1 January 2022 at 19.30 WIB.
