Shin Tae-Yong threatens to resign, Indonesian president Joko Widodo: don’t go anywhere first

Jokowi is still awaiting a TGIPF report on the Kanjuruhan tragedy that killed 132 people.

The focus of Indonesian football fans is on Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong for threatening to resign. However, Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) declined to comment on this issue.

Jokowi prefers to wait for a report from the Joint Independent Fact Finding Team (TGIPF) on the Kanjuruhan tragedy. He refuses to focus on other issues related to Indonesian football.

TGIPF was formed on Jokowi’s orders to investigate the Kanjuruhan tragedy that occurred on Saturday (1/10). The unfortunate accident killed 132 people and hundreds of others received treatment in numerous hospitals.

So far, the national police have named six suspects in the Kanjuruhan tragedy. One of them is the president, director of PT Liga Indonesia Baru (LIB) Akhmad Hadian Lukita.

“It will be reported by TGIPF, tomorrow morning to me, only tomorrow morning, so I can only deliver tomorrow afternoon,” Jokowi said in Bandung on Thursday (13/10).

“The TGIPF report hasn’t been reported yet, so it hasn’t gone anywhere yet, so don’t go anywhere yet, the report hasn’t been yet,” added Jokowi.

Earlier, Tae-yong released a surprising statement on her Instagram account on Wednesday (12/10). She stated that he would leave if PSSI general president Mochamad Iriawan resigned from his position.

Tae-yong’s attitude in defending Iriawan made the public voice divided. There are those who want him to stay, but not a few let him leave the Indonesian national team.

Iriawan’s urgency to resign emerged from the Kanjuruhan tragedy. The figure who is familiarly called Iwan Bule is no longer able to lead PSSI because he is also responsible for the unfortunate accident.
