Coach Shin Tae Yong claimed to have received a special order from Indonesian President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) after bringing Indonesian National team to the runner-up position in the 2021 AFF Cup (2020).

The U-20 World Cup in 2023 which will be held in Indonesia will be Shin Tae Yong’s main target after being signed by PSSI. Shin Tae Yong’s contract with the Indonesian national team will expire after the grand performance of the U-20 age group.
