Shin Tae Yong insists will not train one age category Indonesian National team just as members of the PSSI Executive Committee (Exco) want.
This was revealed by Shin upon his arrival at Soekarno Hatta International Airport, Cengkareng, Thursday (16/6). Shin briefly answered a question about the possibility of only focusing on the senior Indonesian national team or U-19.
“No. It won’t be just one national team,” Shin told CNNIndonesia.com as translated by translator Jeong Seok Seo.
The issue of Shin will focus on the U-19 national team which will appear in the 2023 U-20 World Cup emerged after being conveyed by the General Chair of PSSI, Mochamad Iriawan. According to him, Shin is struggling to handle the three categories of the national team.
Shin is in charge of the three Indonesian national teams, namely seniors, U-23s and U-19s. Before accompanying Fachruddin Aryanto and his friends to Kuwait in the 2023 Asian Cup Qualification, Shin became the director of the U-23 Indonesian National Team at the SEA Games.
Iriawan, who took part in picking up the Indonesian national team at the airport, did not answer clearly about the issue. However, the former Metrojaya Police Chief said that Shin would prepare the team for the 2023 Asian Cup.
“Today I picked up coach Shin Tae Yong and the players who had just returned from the Asian Cup Qualifiers in Kuwait. Greetings from the federation and Mr. Menpora, welcome back to Indonesia,” said Iriawan.
“Preparations will be carried out for sure after this. Coach Shin Tae Yong, officials, and managers will prepare for the future, related to the Asian Cup. Of course we hope that three or two of the naturalized players can join later,” he said.
