Shin Tae-yong Praises the Mentality of the Indonesian National Team

Shin Tae-yong satisfied and praise the mental competition Indonesian National team. Garuda overthrows Malaysia with a landslide score of 4-1 despite being left behind first.

Malaysia had a 1-0 lead through Kogileswaran Raj’s goal when the game was running for 13 minutes. But the Indonesian national team was able to reply with four goals at once in the Group B determination duel AFF Cup at the National Stadium, Singapore, Sunday (19/12/2021).

The winning goals for the Indonesian national team were scored via braces by Irfan Jaya, Pratama Arhan, and Elkan Baggott. The Indonesian national team ended the group phase as the leader of the standings.

It’s not just big scores that make Shin Tae-yong satisfied. It’s a proud player Indonesian National team have a strong mentality to turn things around from being left behind.

“Before the match we held a team meeting, I emphasize that even if you concede, don’t panic and have to play the game you want,” said Shin Tae-yong when giving a press statement, after the match.

“We also encourage players to be more confident and don’t lose mentally and have to win duels. The longer it takes, the more this team develops. So I’m happy,” he said.

Previously, Shin Tae-yong had the experience of raising the mentality of his foster children in a backward condition while still handling Korea. Fortunately, he also managed to do it with the Indonesian national team.

“I also gave an example when I was the coach of the Korean national team. When we competed in the competition against Japan in 2017. What happened was we also conceded first, trailing 0-1 to Japan.”

“But after that, I conveyed the same message to the players. Don’t panic, keep playing like when we were training. Then, the final score was 4-1. Today, the same thing happened,” Shin Tae-yong disclose.

Not just get up, Indonesian National team able to reply with four goals at once. This result at once ordained the Garuda Squad as the top standings in Group B above Vietnam.
