VIVA – Indonesian National Team coach, Shin Tae-yong, praised his two players after beating Turkmenistan in the FIFA Matchday match.
Indonesia won with a score of 2-0 at the Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium (GBT), Surabaya, Friday 8 September 2023.
The two players are Egy Maulana Vikri and Nadeo Argawinata. For them, this duel is a momentum for Indonesia’s comeback. Previously, Shin Tae-yong had not paid attention to the two of them, such as when dealing with Argentina and Palestine.
Shin Tae-yong revealed his reason for calling Egy and Nadeo again. One of them is the performance of the two players in the League with the club.
“We will choose or call the senior national team players who are the best in the league. They gave a good performance, that’s why we called them back,” said Shin Tae-yong in a press conference after the match.
Shin Tae-yong admitted that Egy and Nadeo played extraordinary in this match. However, he also threatened not to call up the two players if they were weak again at the club.
“Today they (Egy Maulana Vikri and Nadeo Argawinata) were extraordinary. Another thing is that if their performance is not good in the league they will definitely not be called up again,” he continued.
Egy, even though he appeared as a substitute in the second half, managed to score a beautiful goal. Using Stefano Lilipaly’s pass, the Dewa United player fired a long-range shot which the Turkmenistan goalkeeper couldn’t stop.
Meanwhile, Nadeo managed to make several crucial saves. “Honestly, the goalkeeper in the national team is not at 100 percent because Syahrul (Trisna) has a finger injury. Nadeo also has an injury to his lower abdomen and is not 100 percent,” explained Shin Tae-yong.
“But we still praise Nadeo’s performance even though there are mistakes. Because he can cover them with saves,” he concluded.
