Thailand U-19 and Vietnam U-19 meet on the final matchday of Group A of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup, Sunday 10 July 2022 evening WIB. Both teams seemed reluctant to attack each other, especially when the position changed to 1-1 in the 76th minute.
The 1-1 draw in that match made the U-19 Indonesian National Team excluded due to the head to head rule. Whereas in another match, the Indonesian U-19 national team performed well when they beat Myanmar U-19 with a landslide score of 5-1.
This is of course very stifling. Shin Tae-yong was offended by the behavior of the two teams.
The South Korean coach assessed that the two rivals were playing unfairly. He even felt disappointed with the Vietnam and Thailand games, which did not appear to have any intention of winning the match.
“Is this a true Fair play? I want to ask the football fans. It’s very disappointing as a head coach with the same job,” said Shin Tae-yong on his Instagram account, @shintaeyong7777.
Not only that, Shin Tae-yong feel sorry for the players who have to perform like that. He considers such a game will not make players learn anything.
“What can the young players feel and what can the young players learn from the game?” he said.
The coach of Thailand U-19 and Vietnam U-19 compactly argued that they did this because the players’ stamina had run out. Thailand U-19 coach Salvador Valero Garcia and Vietnam U-19 coach Dinh The Nam both argued that their players were tired at the end of the match.
Apart from that, the semifinals of the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup are scheduled to be held on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Vietnam is scheduled to meet Malaysia, while Laos meets Thailand.
