Shin Tae-yong disappointed Marselino Ferdinand rush to join Belgian club KMSK Deinze. If you want to be patient, the player’s price can go up after that U-20 World Cup.
Marselino Ferdinand left Persebaya Surabaya, then signed by Deinze for 1.5 seasons on 1 February. According to Shin Tae-yong, Marcelino should have waited for the 2023 U-20 World Cup to increase his value.
The U-20 World Cup will be held in six Indonesian cities namely Palembang, Jakarta, Bandung, Solo, Surabaya and Gianyar. This event can be a place for young players to show off to pay attention to big clubs, including Marselino.
“I think Marselino can leave the country after the U-20 World Cup is over. For sure his price will be different after the World Cup,” Shin Tae-yong told reporters.
“Moreover, the season in Europe will just start in the same month. So to be honest I don’t know what the current team is worth. But it’s a shame the opportunity is lost to get better in getting a better team than now after the World Cup,” he added. .
Departure Marselino Ferdinand to Europe left disappointment for Shin Tae-yong. The Korean coach feels that the young player did not get permission or consult with him before accepting the proposal from the Belgian club.
In addition, Shin Tae-yong’s plan also went awry. Because Marselino is now unable to join the U-20 Indonesian National Team Training Center (TC) in Jakarta which will be held in early to late February.
This TC was held in preparation for the 2023 U-20 Asian Cup which will be held next March. In addition, this TC is also part of the preparation for the U-20 World Cup.
Apart from TC, the U-20 National Team is also planned to play a mini tournament in Jakarta. Three countries have been targeted to be invited, namely Fiji, Guatemala, and the Dominican Republic.
“Now my heart is very nervous, confused because the President (Joko Widodo) and the Menpora (Zainudin Amali) always talk about the Indonesian people hoping that Indonesia can achieve,” said Shin Tae-yong, about the number of absent players in the U-20 National Team TC.
“Indonesia must be able to excel at the U-20 World Cup, but I am very confused because of a situation like this. So now I am on a very difficult journey,” he said.
