Coach Indonesia National Team U-23 Shin Tae Yong he admitted that he was very happy to be able to take his team through to the semi-finals of the 2024 Asian Cup U-23.

The Garuda Muda team qualified after finishing second in Group A. This qualification was achieved after the Indonesian U-23 National Team won 4-1 against Jordan in the final group match at the Abdullah bin Stadium Khalifa, Doha, Qatar, Sunday (21/4).

“First of all, I am very happy that we have qualified for the quarter-finals. I would like to thank the players very much. Today PSSI Chairman Erick Thohir, Minister of Youth and Sports [Dito Ariotedjo], they are here, supporting us. So I’m happy that we did a good job on the field,” said Shin Tae Yong after the match.

“I want to share this victory not only with the players, but also everyone at PSSI, all the Indonesian fans as well, especially I thank him the players who played very well today,” he continued.

This success was achieved by Shin Tae Yong in achieving the targets set by the General Chairman of PSSI, Erick Thohir. As is known, Erick is aiming for STY to be able to lead the Indonesian U-23 National Team to the knockout stage.

Even though he has achieved the PSSI target, Shin Tae Yong doesn’t want to stop yet. He wants to achieve the personal target set by leading the Indonesian U-23 National Team to qualify for the semi-finals of the 2024 U-23 Asian Cup.

“I only achieved 50 percent of the target I set. In the quarter-finals, Korea or Japan, we don’t know who will be ahead. I will watch the game [Korea vs Jepang] tomorrow,” said the 53-year-old coach.
