Coach Indonesian National team Shin Tae-yong hopes that his squad will score lots of goals against Brunei Darussalam. This is to maintain his team’s hopes in the second leg.
Asnawi Mangkualam et al will host Brunei Darussalam in the match 2026 World Cup qualification Asia zone first leg at the Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium, Senayan, Jakarta, Thursday (12/10/2023).
Shin Tae-yong also started calling the players and carried out the first training at Field A Gelora Bung Karno on Monday (9/10/2023). A total of 26 players were called and took part in the training.
Even players who play abroad have also joined the senior squad. Such as Asnawi Mangkualam (Jeonnam Dragons), Pratama Arhan (Tokyo Verdy), Sandy Walsh (KV Mechelen), Shayne Pattynama (Viking FK), Saddil Ramdani (Sabah FC), Rafael Struick (ADO Den Haag), and Elkan Baggott (Ipswich Town ).
Specifically, Jordi Amat (Johor Darul Ta’zim FC) did not join because he was still recovering from injury. He was replaced by three players, namely Fakhruddin, Hokky Caraka and Zaky Asraf.
With full team status, Shin Tae-yong is also confident that his team can perform optimally against Brunei Darussalam. “Surely many are curious about what kind of game it will be, but you can watch it live on the 12th, especially since it’s home,” he said after leading practice.
“I will maximize goal scoring, so that they (the players) can go to Brunei leg 2 in a relaxed manner,” continued Shin Tae-yong.
Indonesian National team You really have to create lots of goals to keep your hopes up for the second leg and qualify for the next phase. This match was played in a two-legged format. The national team will visit Brunei on October 17. If it passes, Indonesia will be in Group F with Iraq, Vietnam and the Philippines.
The first training menu is not too heavy because many players have just joined after the (League) match. Meanwhile, players who have just arrived from abroad still need to recover after a long journey from their respective clubs.
