Trainer Indonesian National team, Shin Tae-yong, no problem PSSI limits the number of player summons per club for AFF Cup 2020. He understands the situation the club is in.
PSSI has determined that the Indonesian national team can only call a maximum of two players per club. This restriction was made due to BRI competition League 1 2021 coincided with the AFF Cup.
The AFF Cup will run on December 5 to January 1, 2022. Meanwhile, Liga 1 will continue to roll and will hold Series 3.
“It is indeed detrimental to the national team, but in my opinion there needs to be developments in the league. So that Indonesian football will move forward,” said Shin Tae-yong in response to the restriction on the number of players to the Indonesian national team, Tuesday (9/11/2021), night, WIB.
“So we both gave in. Indeed, there was an agreement from the league (PT Liga Indonesia Baru) that it could only release two players for the AFF Cup,” he added.
Indonesian National team will hold a Training Center (TC) first in Turkey before going to the AFF Cup. In Turkey, Garuda troops will also hold two test matches against Afghanistan and Myanmar.
A total of 26 players were called up for TC in Turkey. From the list released by PSSI, there is no club whose players are called more than two people.
Not only that, on this occasion only two goalkeepers were called. Namely Syahrul Trisna and Muhammad Riyandi.
“Federation (PSSI) and the league (PT LIB) has a problem because we do have a promise that each team can only call up two players maximum. So that’s why we only choose two goalkeepers,” he said Shin Tae-yong.
“Going to Turkey maybe only two goalkeepers but when we go to Singapore (AFF Cup) there will definitely be more and that’s the agreement. Later after this we can call more than two names for each team,” said the Korean coach.
