Jakarta, CNNIndonesia —
Coach Shin Tae Yong not happy with the ‘flood’ of red cards in duels Indonesian U-20 National Team vs Fiji at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Friday (17/2).
The match, titled a friendly match, was considered by Shin Tae Yong to go well and show sportsmanship.
However, the reality on the ground is different. Fijian players often show hard games. Several players had to stop the movement of Indonesian players with violations that resulted in yellow cards.
Those mistakes also led to Arthur Thomas and Melvin Mansheek being sent off in the 50th and 70th minutes after receiving a second yellow card.
“The international trial this time was deliberately inviting a team that had already passed the U-20 World Cup. There shouldn’t have been any problems on the field earlier, we should also show our best to the fans,” said Shin Tae Yong after the match.
Shin Tae Yong wanted the match which was a preparation for the two teams ahead of the U-20 World Cup to feature a tactical ‘war’ which would also be entertainment for the fans.
“When the fans see it, it’s a shame, the opponent shouldn’t have a red card, it’s even better because they are preparing for the Asian Cup in Uzbekistan,” said Shin Tae Yong.
The coach from South Korea also admitted that he was not satisfied with the victory of Indonesia U-20 from Fiji. In terms of results, Shin Tae Yong was happy that Indonesia had won a landslide victory, but in the game, STY assessed that Garuda Nusantara’s mentality was not satisfactory.
