Coach Shin Tae Yong criticized the performance of the referee Thoriq Alkatiri after Indonesian U-20 National Team was beaten by Guatemala 0-1 in the last match of the Mini Tournament at the Bung Karno Main Stadium (SUGBK), Tuesday (21/2).

Indonesia U-20 lost after Guatemala scored a long-range shot by Jorge Solorzano in the 23rd minute. Solorzano fired almost from the middle of the field after goalkeeper Daffa Fasya left the goal.

After the match ended, Shin Tae Yong highlighted the appearance of his players who made mistakes that led to conceding.

Not only that, the coach from South Korea also criticized the referee Thoriq Alkatiri in that match.

“This match was very unfortunate because there was an error from ourselves and we couldn’t reply to goals. The referee’s performance was also not supportive, so it was very disappointing,” said STY in a press conference after the match, Tuesday (21/2) evening.

The Indonesia vs Guatemala match was tight from the early minutes. A number of Guatemalan players, including captain Mathius Anderson, played sneakily by committing fouls, but referee Thoriq was not keen to see the incident.

Indonesian U-20 captain Muhammad Ferarri was also caught on camera making an exaggerated gesture towards Jefry Bantes.

The loss to Guatemala was their second in three matches in the Mini Tournament. Previously, Indonesia U-20 was humiliated by New Zealand 1-2. The only victory was obtained when beating Fiji 4-0.
