Shin Tae-yong Compares the Indonesian National Team and the German National Team After Failing to Win Against a Strong Team in the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup: Okezone Bola

In this match, the Indonesian U-19 national team was more under pressure, especially in the second round.

Luckily, the U-19 Indonesian National Team has a classy goalkeeper on behalf of Cahya Supriadi. Thanks to his slick appearance, the U-19 Indonesian National Team was able to hold Thailand 0-0.

The pressure was intense towards Shin Tae-yong. Supporters demanded Shin Tae-yong bring the Indonesian national team to beat established teams in Southeast Asia such as Thailand or Vietnam for the championship title.

However, Shin Tae-yong said everything needed a process. He said the German national team alone took 10 years (2004-2014) to win the 2014 World Cup trophy, the title they previously won at the 1990 World Cup.

“It’s impossible to change the head coach, we immediately win against Thailand or whoever, that’s definitely wrong. Even Germany can win the World Cup, it takes a 10-year project,” Shin Tae-yong said at a press conference after the Indonesia U-19 vs Thailand national team match.

“So please Indonesian fans give full support so that we can keep our spirits up and work optimally,” said the 52-year-old coach.

As a result of only packing five points from the first three games, Indonesian U-19 National Team now stuck in fourth position in Group A AFF U-19 Cup 2022. The Indonesian U-19 national team is two points adrift of Vietnam and Thailand, who occupy positions one and two.

Meanwhile, Myanmar’s third position is filled with six points. Although now occupying the fourth position, it does not mean that the opportunity for the U-19 Indonesian National Team to qualify for the 2022 AFF U-19 Cup semifinals is closed.

The Indonesian U-19 national team will almost certainly qualify for the semifinals if they win the remaining two matches against the Philippines and Myanmar. In addition to winning the final two matches, the Indonesian U-19 national team must hope that Vietnam beats Thailand or vice versa.
