Shin Tae-yong and PSSI Requested No More Polemic

Jakarta

PSSI polemic with Indonesian national team coach Shin Tae-yong has met a common ground. Kemenpora hopes there will be no more noise.

PSSI through its Chairman, Mochamad Iriawan, ensured that the recent conflict between his federation and Shin had been resolved. He acknowledged that communication was blocked with the South Korean coach.

Especially about the location of the training camp that was originally asked to roll in South Korea, but was not approved because of the COVID-19 outbreak. PSSI even formed the Indonesian National Team Task Force to oversee and evaluate Shin’s performance.

In the process, PSSI realized there were things that needed to be straightened out. Iriawan also held a virtual meeting with Shin accompanied only by a translator.

Both of them finally agreed to end the polemic. Shin is said to still be training the national team, both U-19, U-23, and senior levels. PSSI also suggested Shin Tae-yong to immediately come to Jakarta to hold a U-19 national team training camp in early July.

The Ministry of Youth and Sports, through its Secretary, Gatot S. Dewa Broto, appreciated the resolution of the conflict. He hoped the unpleasant conditions would not be repeated. Moreover, Indonesian football has been awaited by the event of the 2021 U-20 World Cup. Until now, Kemenpora is still waiting for a report on the budget request from PSSI related to the U-19 national team training camp.

“Yes, hope, maybe once again it is PSSI internal affairs. I am sure PSSI can solve the problem, the important thing is no more noise,” Gatot told detikSport, Sunday (6/28/2020).

“We don’t want to interfere in their business,” he continued.
