Shin Tae-yong have discussed with the Ketum PSSI, Erick Thohir. The South Korean coach fits the vision of developing Indonesian football, accepting Erick’s challenge.
News about Erick’s meeting was shared by Shin Tae-yong, Saturday (22/4/2023). He uploaded a photo with Erick on the @shintaeyong7777 account.
“It was a great time with Erick, Football President, regarding the vision of Indonesian football. I will accept it,” said Shin Tae-yong.
Contract Shin Tae-yong in Indonesia is still valid until the end of this year. Currently, there is no certainty that the 52-year coach’s contract will be extended by PSSI.
With the Indonesian national team, Shin Tae-yong has played 31 matches. As a result, the Garuda Squad was brought to victory 17 times, drew eight times, and lost six times.
Indonesia also rose sharply in the FIFA rankings under Shin Tae-yong’s tutelage. The Red-White Team now occupies the 149th position in the world.
The big event is now waiting for Shin Tae-yong and the Indonesian National Team. The Asian Cup in Qatar in January 2024 will be the next event to go.
Initially, Shin Tae-yong was brought in to handle the Indonesian national team which will compete in the 2023 U-20 World Cup. However, the event was canceled due to Israel’s refusal to compete in Indonesia. FIFA finally moved the event to Argentina.
