The authorities of Bashkiria have prepared documents for granting a protective status to Shikhan Kushtau, which was previously given to the Bashkir Soda Company for development. This was announced at a meeting with the defenders of Kushtau by the head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov. The discussion was broadcast online on social networks on the personal page of the head of the Republic of Belarus.
He noted that he gives two weeks – until September 4 – for the defenders of Kushtau and the developer company to come to a compromise by holding a coordination meeting.
– If the decision is not made, then I will send documents for assigning the status of a specially protected territory to the shihan. We have prepared the relevant documents, – said Radiy Khabirov. – It is necessary to agree with the federal executive body in terms of appropriation, but this is a resolvable issue.
Also at this meeting, the head of the Republic of Belarus said that the legal aspects of the privatization of the Bashkir Soda Company in 2013 will be checked.
Recall that local residents and environmentalists opposed the development of the Kushtau shihan, which was supposed to become a source of raw materials for the Bashkir Soda Company. Into conflict intervened the head of Bashkiria, Radiy Khabirov, after which work on the shihan was suspended. Later, Radiy Khabirov announced his intention buy out a controlling stake shares of the developer company in order to further find alternative sources of raw materials and modernize production.
