Dubai, United Arab Emirates (CNN) – Mahmoud Abdel Razek “Shikabala”, player of the Egyptian club Zamalek, responded to the statements of Mortada Mansour, the former chairman of the board of directors of the team, which he made recently.
Mansour had said that “Shikabala” rebelled, by “gathering the players and asking them not to join the training of the White Knight team, because of the late dues.”
The 37-year-old said, through his account on the Facebook platform: “The great fans of Zamalek Club, I am speaking to you today not only as a captain of the club’s football team and one of the most honored to carry the White Castle leadership badge throughout history, but I am speaking as one of those who were brought up within the walls of this club.” The great club, and for more than a quarter of a century I had the honor to defend the banner of Zamalek, and therefore some points had to be answered, and this is not all.
And he continued by saying: “The former club president asks me why I did not interfere with him in lifting the seizure of Zamalek?!!
The Zamalek club player added: “Indeed, I spoke with the gentlemen of the parties who held the reservation on the club, and contacted them to lift the reservation and end the crisis in order to preserve the club, the stability of the team and the rest of the other games, and the surprise was that the response came that there is no reservation on the club, and Zamalek is not reserved for the benefit of any requesting party. We need to communicate with them to solve the crisis!”
And he added: “With regard to the Sporting Lisbon case, the club bought me from the ranks of Sporting Lisbon in 2016 for $ 650,000, and indeed the amount of $ 140,000 was paid and only 510,000 remained. They had to be paid on time according to the contract, and for information, all of this was deducted from my financial dues with The club, but due to failure to pay and late penalties, the total amount demanded from the club has become much greater.”
And Shikabala continued: “At that time, if the amount was paid on time, which is 510 thousand dollars, and calculating the price of the dollar at the time was 7 pounds and 83 piasters, equivalent to three million and 900 thousand pounds, now what is required with delays, fines, and an increase in the price of the dollar is 46 million.”
And the Zamalek club player stated: “For information, I stood as a wall to block many matters to solve problems related to the players that I had not announced. Zamalek out of money!!!
He explained: “Because I chose to play in Zamalek, and because of administrative errors before, I played without money, and my relationship with Zamalek and its fans is greater than material matters and everyone knows that, and here we are not talking about financial conditions only that the players went through throughout a season, but there are other circumstances that are more difficult. They can be talked about, and the players ask me to speak on their behalf. Therefore, in my capacity, my speech was to clarify those many crises and problems that were a direct cause of the team’s results during the entire season.
And “Shikabala” concluded: “This is in response to everything that the former club president raised about me. As for everything that happened to the team, there will be a clear response, and the rest of the conversation.”
