USki star Mikaela Shiffrin is in the lead after the first round of the giant slalom in Sölden, ahead of New Zealander Alice Robinson (+0.22 seconds) and Italian Federica Brignone (+0.40). The best Austrian in the opening race of the Alpine Skiing World Cup is Stephanie Brunner in sixth place (+1.37), outside the top ten are Kathrin Liensberger (+1.89), Julia Scheib ( +2,41) and Ricarda Haaser (+2,60) ). The second run is scheduled for 1pm (live ORF 1).

The defending World Cup champion was not overall at the start. Switzerland’s Lara Gut-Behrami announced her withdrawal from the tour after the round because she “just didn’t feel 100 percent fit,” as she tearfully said in interviews very emotional. Gut-Behrami had been struggling with a very bad case of flu in preparation for the race and then had problems with her knee.
