Following Champions League standings Group A to Group D after a series of matches from Tuesday (28/9) night to Wednesday (29/9) early morning WIB. One that stole the attention was Sheriff Tiraspol.
In Group D of the Champions League, the Sheriff, who was the debutant team, was initially predicted to be the ‘complement of suffering’ among the other three teams. In addition to the two European giants, Real Madrid and Inter Milan, this group is also filled with Shakhtar Donetsk whose name is no stranger to the European club competition football scene.
However, the Sheriff was able to show off and make a surprise in two games. After a 2-0 win over Shakhtar on the first matchday, the Moldovan league club made an even bigger surprise this morning thanks to a 2-1 win at Real Madrid.
With the other matches in this group ending in a draw, as Inter drew 0-0 at Shakhtar, the top of Group D also brought a surprise as the Sheriff entrenched in the top position with 6 points.
Among the teams that have played two matches, Sheriff Tiraspol is one of four teams that can still earn maximum points. In addition there are Liverpool in Group B, and Ajax and Dortmund in Group C.
