Zhu was guarding his sheep in the mountains in Gansu province last Saturday when a storm with strong winds, rain and snow suddenly pulled in and the temperature dropped dramatically to minus 14 degrees.
He sought refuge in a cave where he kept clothes and food for emergencies, but then saw a runner outside the cave and immediately understood that something was wrong. The runner stood completely still, suffering from cramps, says Zhu.
