Shelters in Florida do not request immigration papers: Consul Sabines

There are 13 counties that have issued mandatory evacuation orders: Charlotte, Citrus, Collier, Hernando, Hillsborough, Lee, Levy, Manatee, Marion, Pasco, Pinellas, Sarasota and Volusia.

While voluntary evacuations have been called in Brevard, Clay, DeSoto, Dixie, Duval, Flagler, Gilchrist, Glades, Hardee, Highlands, Lake, Miami-Dade, Nassau, Okeechobee, Orange, Putnam, Seminole, St. Johns, Sumter, Union.

It is estimated that in Florida’s 51 emergency counties—of the 63 it has—there are 350,000 Mexicans with various immigration conditions.

“It’s time to take care of yourself and not take risks. Material things can be replaced, life cannot,” said the consul.

He explained that shelters have been installed in all counties in emergency, some have care for people “with special needs” and others also receive pets.
