Shell gives the majority of its 82,000 employees worldwide a bonus of 8 percent of their annual salary. The oil and gas group gives the performance bonus to let employees share in the success of the company. This mainly concerns employees who do not hold top positions.
According to a spokesperson for the group, the bonus has nothing to do with the sky-high inflation or the loss of purchasing power.
Shell once again benefited from the high oil and gas prices due to the war in Ukraine last quarter. The British company posted a profit of 11.5 billion euros, an increase of 26 percent compared to the first three months of this year.
