Sheldon Jackson responds to Rituraj; Saurashtra defeated Maharashtra – Saurashtra | Vijay Hazare | Sheldon Jackson

AHMEDABAD – Saurashtra beat Maharashtra to win the Vijay Hazare ODI tournament. Saurashtra won the Vijay Hazare Trophy by defeating Maharashtra by five wickets. After losing the toss and batting, Maharashtra scored 248 for the loss of 9 wickets in their allotted 50 overs. Rituraj Gaekwadi (108 off 131 balls) who has been in good form in the tournament, was able to put up a fighting score for Maharashtra.

Asim Kasi (37 off 33 balls) and Naushad Sheikh (31 off 23 balls) were the only players who performed better in Maharashtra. For Saurashtra, Chirag Jani conceded 43 runs from ten overs and took 3 wickets with a hat-trick. Pawan Shah (4), Bachav (27), Ankit Bawne (16) and Saurabh Navale (13) let down the Maharashtra lineup.

In reply, Saurashtra got their target in 46.3 overs thanks to Sheldon Jackson’s century (133 not out off 136 balls). Harvick Desai, who scored 50 runs off 67 balls, gave excellent support to Sheldon Jackson. Maharashtra were defensive adding 125 runs in the same opening partnership. Mukesh Chaudhary gave Maharashtra a break by returning Harvick and Jai Gohil (0) in the same over.

Samarth Vyas (12), Arpit Vasavada (15) and Prerak Mangad returned as they came, while Chirag Jani (30 off 25 balls) and Sheldon Jackson guided Saurashtra to victory. Vicky Ostwall took two wickets conceding only 20 runs in ten overs for Maharashtra, Mukesh Chaudhary took two wickets conceding only 38 runs in nine overs and Satyajeet Bachav took one wicket conceding 66 runs in ten overs.
