The government and SD announced on Thursday that they are going ahead with the proposal to introduce visitation zones.

The zones must be able to be established in certain areas for a limited period and give the police extended powers to search and search vehicles without criminal suspicion.

The proposal has attracted strong criticism from the opposition, not the least of which has been a lot about the right to search people based on clothing that is considered to be linked to gang crime.

The Social Democrats have announced that they intend to vote no to the proposal, and the party’s legal policy spokesperson Ardalan Shekarabi wants to present his own proposal instead.

“The police must determine what these attributes are and it must not constitute discrimination,” he wrote earlier on Thursday.

But Shekarabi was not satisfied there.

Shared manipulated image

On Thursday evening, he shared a picture of Martin Melin where it looks like the L politician is reading a proposal upside down.

“Your liberal watchdog”, he writes.

The picture that Ardalan Shekarabi shared on Instagram on Thursday night but later deleted.

But the image is in fact manipulated.

In the real picture, which was posted in February 2023 on Martin Melin’s own Instagram, the booklet is upright.

One who reacts strongly to Shekarabi’s publication is M-toppen Fredrik Kärrholm.

“This manipulated image has been published by Ardalan Shekarabi, the Social Democrats’ candidate for the post of Minister of Justice, on his Instagram. Deeply undignified and pure bullying. Shekarabi should take down the picture and apologise,” signed by Fredrik Kärrholm X.

Liberal party secretary Gulan Avci calls it a “low water mark” by the Social Democrats and writes that she also wants to see an apology from Shekarabi.

By 11pm on Thursday night, Ardalan Shekarabi had removed the manipulated image from his Instagram.
