Mexico City. President-elect Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo announced that she will keep Antonio Martínez Dagnino as head of the Tax Administration Service (SAT).
After rejecting the idea of tax increases next year, he said that he will remain with the team from the Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP), except for Juan Pablo De Botton, current Undersecretary of Expenditures, because he will be Secretary of Finance in the government of Mexico City with Clara Brugada. He will be replaced in the federal agency by Bertha Gómez Castro.
In an interview, upon leaving the transition house to go to the National Palace for a meeting with the head of the SHCP, Rogelio Ramírez de la O, he said:
“Virtually the entire Treasury team is staying, except for the current Undersecretary of Expenditures, Juan Pablo, who is going to the City government.”
Sheinbaum insisted that they all stayed because “it is a good, honest team that knows public finances and our project. I am happy to work with them.”
He once again confirmed that there will be no new taxes, and regarding the next economic package he said that it is going well, we are in the process of “adjusting the deficit and at the same time ensuring that there are resources for everything we committed to and for the development of the country.”
